bush scarf

in recent weeks, crafting has been kept to a minimum...school holidays, and now full time work....i have tried to conquer a pattern for a bucket hat that you crochet and then throw in a washing machine to felt. 3 times i have tried it... 3 times..... and it doesn't work for me....perhaps it is like swapping a favourite receipe of grannies, some people just cant give you all the ingredients when asked.....so, while travelling in the car taking kids back to school i played with some alpaca wool and developed this funny little....loosely i call it a ....scarf... bush colours...maybe it is a necklace, but i have ventured out in it and lots of people comment on it, so it cant be all bad...fun to make...easy peasy different lengths of chains and trebles into rings every now and again.
hopefully the sewing bug will come back soon, i have lots to do and lots in my mind to do.....

mud baths....

still no time in the stitching room as we have been occupied in the garden.... what a week, the average temperature was a cool 9 degrees ....Celsius that is...cold ....and to top it all off we had rain...real rain....rain that drenches you....rain you cant work in... rain that forms mud.... even teenage children cant resist throwing mud....aahhh

but progress is being made, even if we have stopped for now, to let the mud settle......and i am already loving the new look.....daunted by the work that still needs to be done, but none the less loving it....

how do i keep mud out of the house...children.....animals.....boots..... on wooden floors....aahhhhhh.....

bush colours

amazing how inspiration just jumps out at you in the strangest of places.
visiting an art exhibition by the talented Bronwyn Newbury (she deserves her own post at a later date) in Denmark on the weekend led to a craft shop that led to a discovery of the most fantastic yarn from here...Alpaca... soft earth colours... soft earthy wool...soft earthy pattern.....just need some time to get stitching at stone cottage to get it completed...but its school holidays??????

we've been on broome time...

no crafting going on around here.....

we've been on a winter break to broome, in our states far northwest... what a fantastic few days away with friends....30 degrees (celsius) everyday, no flies or mozzies or bugs....watching sunsets like this, whilst sipping champagne on the beach....

driving scooters around to take in sights like this.....

reality check as we hit home.....

washing, washing and more washing, rain,rain... but can't complain we're farmers... and back to freezing weather with no food in the house other than the essentials....

creation.....upside down tomatoe, onion and marinated feta cheese tart...

delicious....appreciated by all, as there is none left for today's lunch....

i will write up the receipe because it was so easy and soooo yummy...just have to finish the chores first....
