a new shirt, in more ways than one...

a few weeks ago i discovered a fabulous tutorial on a blog i was reading, that re-fashioned a mans shirt...cleverly...

we are off on a holiday to africa in a few weeks time, and i need some short sleeve cotton shirts for when we are hiking around in the heat...here was my solution....this looks soooo much better on, than off, but it is 9 degrees today and i am not taking off any layers of clothes for a photo....check out jezze's blog though, as she is modeling hers...

i rolled the neck edge down as the tutorial says you can...
except i rolled it forward and put a decorative tape to match the pocket insignia...because i couldn't be bothered unpicking the pocket, and decided it might be handy to have it anyway...

this remake took a little over an hour to complete....
now i am off to dear husbands wardrobe in search of a another unwanted shirt or two or three or so...

like strings of spaghetti...

i saw this over on whip up
and decided to give it a go following the link to this tutorial...
and made this in about 10 minutes...

whenever i make something using scraps, i always wish i had waited and made it in some decent fabric....
i think i will make another...
but how fabulous are these from KapowWowObjects..

gifted...

a gift for my god-daughter....
she's special....and it was her special day...
the dress was drafted and cut and re-cut and re-cut and fitted, and added to, and ....
it worked...
she wore it with a metalicus underneath becuase the morning was freezing...
pleated front and back...
pleated hem....
she loved it and i love her...
and the bonus is, she has asked for sewing lessons...
i love it when a gift inspires....

i started with the jacket....
simple gathered neckline and 3/4 gathered sleeves.
quick and easy to make with no alterations needed, phew...
McCalls M5634
the fabric is self pattern spot...as you can see...100% cotton, and just divine to work with.....
the whitest of white....
the dress i will make tonight tonight..... when i cant sleep.....
