not yet christmas

i know the silly season is nearly upon us...
i know i should be getting organised...
i have tried...
after the hay was made...
i made some of these..
ready to be decorated with the christmas spirit like last years gifts...

and then today i had to finally throw out this...
and thought better of it...

off to stone cottage...

heat up the glue gun...
cut the lavender heads off...
and start glueing in a semi random fashion but all in one direction...like this...
when you are back at the beginning add a generous amount of your favourite ribbon...
of which i didn't have in the cupboard so will be replacing the white for something a bit more earthy on the next shopping trip...
now you need to hang this on a compliant cupboard near the hot glue gun....
and start filling in the gaps that are visible to the eye...
be careful not to off balance it by adding to many flower heads to one area...
and when you are happy with what you see...
you can finally take down the favourite football clubs sticker that has been attached to the glass door at eye level to stop people/me from walking into the door, and replace it with a beautiful lavender wreath...
or of course you can hang it on the front door as a welcome to my house wreath until you are ready for christmas...

and for those of you that don't have access to a bale of hay in the back paddock, you can of course buy pre-made wreathes from your local craft store for ridiculously inflated prices...
but i suggest that you buy a $5.00 square bale from your local farmers market and try making one..they are sooooo easy peasy...
